International Mobile Roaming to Taiwan, Guam & Saipan Now Available
February 24, 2010

Palau National Communications Corporation (PNCC) is pleased to announce that international mobile roaming service is now available for PalauCel customers with postpaid accounts who want to use their home cell phones when they go overseas. The first destinations available for international roaming are Taiwan, Guam and the CNMI.

GSM international roaming is a premium service that enables you to use your own cellular phone (and number) while traveling away from your home mobile network, without buying a new SIM card. As soon as you step off the plane, you can make calls and send text messages home to Palau, overseas or locally in the visited country. You will be billed at tariffed roaming rates on your regular PNCC monthly bill for all calls made while roaming overseas.

Callers in Palau who want to reach PalauCel roamers overseas just dial as if the roamer is in Palau, with the usual local charges.

Before travelling overseas, PalauCel customers who want to roam on the PalauCel partner mobile networks in Taiwan, Guam and the CNMI just need to:

1. Have a GSM multi-band phone model that can operate on the GSM band of the visited network (Taiwan: 900/1800; Guam: 850/1900; CNMI: 850).

2. Sign up for a PalauCel monthly plan (775) if you’re not already a subscriber (roaming is not possible with prepaid PalauCel accounts).

3. Sign up for roaming service at PNCC (even if you currently have a PalauCel monthly plan with IDD, you need to sign up for roaming as an additional feature).

“This is a very convenient, premium service for PalauCel customers who want to stay in touch easily with their offices and families while travelling,” said Richard L. Misech, PNCC General Manager. “PNCC is currently testing with more roaming partners in other locations such as the United States, Japan and the Philippines, and will inform the public when the new destinations are available,” he ad Back ded.
